Free Agency
1. Free Agents will be auctioned off, meaning every team has the chance to acquire a free agent. As in an auction, the highest bidder wins. However, to win the auction, your bid must stand the highest for at least 24 hours or as stated by a FA committee member. The minimum contract length is 1 year. The maximum is 5 years.
Minimum salary per year is .5 Million dollars.
At any point in the bidding process, an increase in the contract length without reducing annualized salary by more than 25% trumps the previous bid. Conversely, a contract offer of 1 year shorter and a More-Than 25% increase in annualized salary will trump the previous offer. A contract offer of 2 years shorter and a more than 75% increase in annualized salary will trump the previous offer. A 5 year contract offer ALWAYS trumps a 2 year contract offer.
***You Must Pay Out More Total Money If You Are Lowering The Per-year Bid.***
This process stays the same no matter what time of the year it is. Any free agent is eligible to be given an offer to, and if that offer stands for 24 hours without being trumped then the free agent will be signed to the given team for the number of years/$$.
1a. All bids are unretractable. Violation of this will result in major penalties.
1b. When you sign a free agent your roster must not exceed the maximum allowed 10 Slots and Infinite Injury Reserve Slots. Meaning, if you have ten players you must put a player on waivers if you have the winning bid. However, you will not be able to retract this player from waivers, or trade this player to a team that claimed him. See Waiver Wire Rules for more details.
2. Restricted Free Agents: Every team receives 1 restricted FA tag each season. This can be used on any free agent on an owners team if they please. When the restricted FA tag is applied, said team will force the chosen free agent to be involved in a silent auction. In this auction teams will bid on said player by sending a Private Message to a specialized account. No one will know each others bids, and everyone will only get to bid once. After a week has passed the Administrator will log onto the Silent Auction Account and find the highest bidder. Once the highest bid is established the admin will then relay the information to whichever team applied the restricted FA tag in the first place. That team that placed the restricted tag on the now restricted free agent will have a chance to equal the offer of the highest bidder. Restricted tags do not carry over on a year to year basis, you get one per season. Like restricted Free Agents, there is no maximum to how much you can bid as long as the team stays under the salary cap.
3. Unrestricted Free Agents: Unrestricted FA's will be auctioned off, meaning every team has the chance to acquire a free agent. As in an auction, the highest bidder wins. The auction will be on the Main Board under Free Agents section. There is no maximum to how much you can bid. But you obviously, must stay under the cap.
Any example for this would be LeBron James. When he becomes a Free Agent in our league, The Cavaliers will have the option to place a restricted tag on him. The reason for this to to ensure you get the final bid on your franchise players and home teams have a legitimate chance to retain their All-Stars.
4. Any player may be released into Free Agency. You will owe 100% of the difference for this year, and 50% of the difference for each following year of the player's contract. For example, if Al Jefferson were released now, the owner who released him would be responsible for 13.5 Million in income that Al Jefferson would get for the 2010 season, and 6.75 Million through the 2013 season (end of his contract).
5. In order for a player to be eligible to be on a team in our league a player must have been drafted or have signed a professional contract. Any player that is drafted in the NBA Draft will be available to be drafted in our Amateur Draft. Any player that is not drafted in our NBA Dynasty Draft, but was drafted in the Real NBA Draft will be available during our Free Agency Period.
